CALL FOR GRANT PROPOSALs FOR THE PROMOTION OF WOMEN’S, GIRLS’ AND CHILDREN’S RIGHTS IN TANZANIA 2026

By WFT-T

11 March 2026

The Registered Trustees of Women Fund Tanzania (WFT Trust) is the first national feminist Fund in the country and the only funding support mechanism, started by women, for women, girls, and children. The Fund seeks to achieBoldve lasting feminist gains by addressing the root causes of unequal power relations, including gender-based inequalities, and other oppressive systems, attitudes, and social norms in various fields. We do this through funding women’s rights organisations, girls’, and children’s rights organisations and movement(s), and other social justice movements to be able to amplify voices and organise for collective transformative action to achieve progressive social change with agency.

WFT–T, in collaboration with Msichana Initiative and Cuso International, through the support of Global Affairs Canada, is implementing a 5-year project named Renewed Women’s Voices and Leadership Project (RWVL- T), which aims to support local women’s rights organizations (WROs) and young feminist-led organizations (YFOs) working towards the rights of women and girls. In Tanzania, the first RWVL Program was implemented in 2019-2024 with a core aim of emphasizing capacity-building and policy advocacy to enhance empowerment for women and girls.

Currently under the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Project (RWVL-T) Project (2025- 2030) is working towards achieving the following key project outcomes;

▪ Enhanced organizational sustainability of local WROs and YFOs organizations to deliver their gender equality (GE) mandates

▪ Strengthened programming and advocacy of WROs / YFOs to advance gender equality and empower women and girls

▪ Increased effectiveness of sub-national, national, regional, and global women’s rights platforms, networks, and alliances to affect policy, legal, and social change.
